For more than 25 years, I have worked across international hospitality and tourism — combining strategic thinking with a close understanding of day-to-day operations. I have opened hotels, led international teams and brands, and established sustainable processes. Throughout my career, my focus has been on connecting brand strategy with operations, creating coherent experiences and strengthening brands for the long term.
At Accor, I was responsible for the global brand development of Pullman Hotels & Resorts. It was particularly inspiring to see how a sharper brand identity not only transformed the guest experience for the better, but also increased team engagement. Functionality became a stronger focus for architects and interior designers, while interactive art installations gave the brand a vibrant, contemporary personality.
At Swissôtel, I was responsible for international hotel operations as well as the ISO-certified sustainability programme. Swissness, quality and wellbeing were central to the brand. The “Vitality Room” brought this concept to life through natural tactile materials, ergonomic comfort, good air quality, balanced lighting concepts and an integrated fitness wall.
My experience has taught me that strategy, design, service, atmosphere and culture only create real impact when they work together in a credible and coherent way. This is precisely where my work begins.
In 2013, I bought a hotel in Brig — a solid property dating back to 1884. Located in the heart of the town, the boutique design hotel continues to shape the townscape and the Brig Simplon tourism destination today.
Over the course of eighteen months, I completely renovated the building from the ground up. A process like this demands decisiveness, perseverance and the support of family and friends. You take on responsibility — financially, operationally and emotionally. For the first time, I was able to apply, holistically and at my own risk, the principles that Prof. Dr Baars and I would later develop and structure through a scientific process into the "Hotel Impact Toolbox". This became the foundation for the Design Journey™ Method.
My hotel is officially classified as a Design Hotel by Switzerland Tourism, and the Canton of Valais has recognised the property for sustainable entrepreneurship.
